    If you had read it, you wouldn't be asking that.  The difference is
significant because the default mailer isn't for those people who want to use
another mailer, or are worried about the default, or have a preference.  It
is for those people who don't have a preference and haven't done anything
like running and administering a unix-like system before.  

    I mean, honestly now, has the fact that sendmail isn't the default caused
you any problems in your running of Debian?  No.  My running of Exim when the
default of Debian was SMail didn't cause me any problems.  Debian allows
people who know better to ignore the defaults that are there for the people
who don't know any better.  And it is for those people that Exim is better.
