Re: NetBSD pkgsrc function
following the netbsd pkgsrc functionality...
would a /usr/pkgsrc or /usr/src/debian allow the whole system to be rebuilt
from source? This would be a great step to providing easy access to sub-arch
optimizations (eg PIV or Athlon).
It could much easier for users to build an optimized system and not have to
apt-get source blaa ... dpkg -i blaa for every single package.
It seems stampede provides such functionality through slab. Perhaps their
work could be folded into debian?
Corresponding with another user who is interested in this functionality, the
following changes would be necessary:
the addition of a /usr/src/debian directory which contains
The directory structure of all of the debs.
A cvs repository of all of the .src.debs
shell/perl scripts to download the source to
a)all packages you have the source to
b)all packages installed on the system
c)all packages
d)one package + dependencies by typing make
apt-multi-source
Allow you to prioritize which sources packages you use.
Allow you to bind packages to a peticular source
(always get the package form that source)
