hmmm.. maybe because you cannot start downloading with them 
from a given position, skipping some bytes from the beginning 
of the file? (that is, without creating a dummy file of given length and then
cutting it)

or because they do not offer library with nice API to link to your
C programs?
or because they do not support SSL?
or because they are bigger?
