potato = stable
woody = testing
sid = unstable
woody (testing) 應該在二月左右會有越來越多新的軟件。
testing 的意思，可以說是「永遠穩定的測試版」，隨時可以變為下一個 stable 版，
所以在 unstable 裡的軟件，確定沒有重大的 bugs 後，才會慢慢進 testing。
暫時 woody (testing) 跟 potato (stable) 相差無幾，所以我相信大部份的
Debian 開發人員都在用 unstable 開發。將來 testing 升至
glibc-2.2、XFree86-4.0.2 等後，說不定會有相當的開發人員轉用 testing。
當然，Debian potato (stable) 上仍然有要修正的地方，所以也有不少開發人員
不時使用 potato 的機器制作 security fix 和 2.2r3 等。另外，重要的
Debian 服務器 （www.debian.org 等）會一直使用 stable 版。
