I don't see a good reason for upstream maintainers (or every other
distro) to do (or endorse) this in the first place…

That's usually the case with udebs, they mimick casual debs, so dealing
with the latter usually means the former get dealt with at the same
time, yeah. Just thought I'd mention it to make sure.

Yes. I still disagree with the soname bump, but that wasn't your
