Package: debian-installer

The Debian Installer (or the "tasksel" task) on the above noted version
installs KDE as the default desktop environment, while not being a
"kde"-specific version. That default should be Gnome.
Which version exactly?

Also "what mirror were you using"? Is this reproducible with any
mirror?

You may have hit a problem where the Gnome task was not installable
because of a missing key component on the mirror you were using.

I've done a new install with the same debian-6.0.0-i386-netinst.iso, this time put on a USB-key with cat, also using the same ftp.nl.debian.mirror, and this time tasksel is
installing Gnome packages by default.

So, it appears that this mirror earlier on lacked a few crucial Gnome packages that have since been restored. When I earlier installed the Gnome task (in Aptitude) there were indeed a couple of packages uninstallable (among which Hungarian spell checking,
if I remember correctly?).

Thanks for all the great work you all are doing!
