I have removed everything under ~/.local/share/gnash, and now I started looking for anything containing 'gnash' in . directories to clean up.

I think it is stable enough to be included in Lenny, but it is not perfect yet, as you might imagine :)
Note that usually people think of gnash in terms of the „flash plugin for firefox”, and since the gnash package doesn't actually offer that functionality, in tasksel we should talk about "mozilla-plugin-gnash" or "konqueror-plugin-gnash", depending on the task.
