I've already done some work to let tasksel run under d-i's debconf. However, installing the tasks there will require some apt changes so that its progress information can be parsed and translated to a progress bar and the package's debconf questions passed through. IIRC there is code out there for all of this but I don't know when it will become available in the packaged apt. > And what about the MTA step? Any ideas already? It should be easy to use passthrough to have cdebconf ask the questions when it's reconfigured in the chroot. But not sure if that's the best way since after all debootstrap installs the mta just a bit earlier and with enough work it might be possible to ask the questions then. > Finally, if we really plan to *completely* get rid of base-config, then > thinking about the localization-config entry points could be worth it: > after all, we don't have *that* much time before etch release..:) Yes, we have fairly little time really for big changes like these that affect the base system. -- see shy jo
