[Sarge d-i] Preseed for using alternative doesn't work, manual does

Hi there,

I've created a custom Sarge Debian Installer net installation CD. As part of
the customization, I've added two architecture-specific kernels, resulting
in the addition of the following packages:

kernel-headers-2.6.8-2-686_2.6.8-16_i386.deb
kernel-headers-2.6.8-2-k7_2.6.8-16_i386.deb
kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686_2.6.8-16_i386.deb
kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7_2.6.8-16_i386.deb

If I do a manual installation using the customized CD I'm getting four
kernel options for the Debian base install, in stead of 2. Selecting one of
the alternative kernels works okay and it gets nicely installed.

But when I try to preseed this installation, I'm getting the default kernel.
I tried all kind of different preseed options, but none of them worked. The
last one and probably best preseed I've used were these lines (among the
others of course:

d-i debian-installer/kernel/image string kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686
d-i base-installer/kernel/which-kernel string kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686
d-i base-installer/kernel/which-kernel select kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686

I ended up with these lines after investigation of manual installs with
debconf-get-selections. But as stated previously, it didn't work out.

Any other hints? Thanks in advance!

Durk
