Bug#33448: boot-floppies: bad /dev/console ?
Package: boot-floppies
Version: 2.1.7
Severity: grave
I have just installed slink, and had a problem with /dev/console. The
install process installs it like this:
crw--w--w- 1 root tty 5, 1 Feb 11 00:03 console
when I start gpm:
thunderchild:~# /etc/init.d/gpm start
Starting mouse interface server: gpm.
thunderchild:~# gpm: freopen(stderr) failed
from strace:
close(2) = 0
open("/dev/console", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = -1 ENODEV (Operation not
supported by device)
When I symlink /dev/console to /dev/tty0 (as was installed before slink),
it works ok. I'm using the stock kernel installed by the boot-floppies.
