Hi,

I was having similar problems when I used SCSI-emulation to access my
CD/DVD for burning. One of the problem was that the SCSI-modules were
not loading automatically. After loading the modules with modprobe, the
player could access the disc but there were some other problems, so I
stopped using the SCSI-emulation. Now I can play DVD:s without problems
with totem-xine.

So, make sure all the necessary modules are loaded and you have your
/dev/hdc (or the scsi device if you use scsi-emulation) in the /etc/fstab.
Also make sure that all the symlinks for your devices are correctly set,
if you use SCSI-emulation. You should be able to mount the disk as a
normal user and if you can then libdvdread should be able access it as well.

Simo
