Debian-alpha bugs (was: Re: General questions about debian-alpha...)

Hi all,

Let me add my maybe-bugs, too, after a response:

The links are installed by libc6.1-dev (that's why it depends on
kernel-headers-2.0.32 because otherwise they point into the void :).

Wow, thanks. I did not know this (even if it makes lots of sense). We
should perhaps make sure that the kernel maintainers do not maintain that
it *is* necessary?

Maybe-bugs:

The dummy ldso is still version 1.7.14-2 which gives two problems: it
depends on libc6 (rather than libc6.1) and nextawg depends on it >=1.8.9-1.

  gv 3.5.8-4 crashes as follows:

  $ gv CW97-submission.ps
  Segmentation fault (core dumped)

  $ gdb /usr/X11R6/bin/gv core
  GNU gdb 4.17

  This GDB was configured as "alpha-unknown-linux-gnu"...(no debugging symbols found)...
  Core was generated by `gv CW97-submission.ps'.
  Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

  find_solib: Can't read pathname for load map: Input/output error

  #2  0x12002bde0 in _start ()
  warning: Hit heuristic-fence-post without finding
  warning: enclosing function for address 0x3e8000003e8
  This warning occurs if you are debugging a function without any symbols
  (for example, in a stripped executable). In that case, you may wish to
  increase the size of the search with the `set heuristic-fence-post' command.

  Otherwise, you told GDB there was a function where there isn't one, or
  (more likely) you have encountered a bug in GDB.

mailing anything gives the error

Cheers,
