Alpha does't boot

Unfortunately the generic 2.2.x kernel on the Debian/Alpha CD is
probably unstable on most archs, (im my own experience, the 2.2.x
kernels are currently far from the stability of 2.0.x, at least under
Alpha).

 So if you use SRM, you probably need to use the floppy images for
your particular architecture (that use 2.0.x kernels) rather than the
generic one. If you do not have a floppy you can write the
corresponding floppy image on a CD-R and use root=/dev/scd0 or
/dev/hd[abcd] instead of /dev/fd0
