This might be a package suitable for package salvaging. See [1] for the criteria. You will need patience, because you have to give the maintainer time for a response and there will probably other things that need time. The good thing is that the forky release cycle just started.

I am happy to give the current maintainer the time to respond, but if that doesn't happen, I would be happy to salvage the package.

In the meantime you could run your own repository or simply offer deb packages with your Github releases. See [2] for an example.

We are already doing so. The release https://github.com/slgobinath/SafeEyes/releases/tag/v3.2.0 is bundled with a .deb package.

If you decide to do package salvaging, this means you will become package maintainer, which is a long time commitment.

I am ready for the long time commitment. I have been maintaining the Ubuntu PPA and Arch Linux AUR for safeeyes for more than a year.

Best regards,
Archisman
