Bastian, 

I took your changes and uploaded the new package again. In reviewing the network-manager-pptp debian/rules file:
    https://salsa.debian.org/utopia-team/network-manager-pptp/-/blob/debian/master/debian/rules

Should I consider the same hardening rules and remove the architecture.mk stuff to make it the same?

Also, forgot to mention: libgnutls28-dev must be in Build-Depends to even get to that error.
