Indeed. From the extended description of that error I had thought this package perhaps qualified for the exemption described, but wasn’t sure how to indicate this. The script lintian is complaining about is rumur-run, a wrapper that orchestrates some common options to one of the binaries. This script is not necessary for using the package. That is, someone without Python can directly run the binary, spelling out all their options.

With the above in mind, do you think it’s acceptable to retain only a Suggests for python3? OTOH maybe this package has been wrong from its first release and should have always declared a Depends on python3?
