I just wanted to give you a short heads-up why you maybe did not get an response
already.

First, many thanks for contributing to Debian and wanting to adpopt usbredi.
This is very appreciated..

However, its also a bit complicated, but dont worry, its not that hard to learn
all the stuff :) I'll switch to bit more verbose mode ; apologizes if I tell you
something you know already… If you miss some information, just ask.

Debian is currently frozen, so new packages should comply with the release team
policy; that means that your package is currently not within the scope for
permissible, at least not to unstable. What's possible is going for experimental
or wait until bullseye is released.

Regarding the adoption, you should reply to the orphaning bug (#911431),
indicating there that you want to adopt the package by retitling ^this^ bug to
start with "ITA:" (stands for Intent to Adopt) and set yourself as maintainer.
You would also then state that in the debian/changelog, closing
the #911431 with the changelog (the developers reference should have a paragraph
on the details how to adopt an orphaned package)

Otherwise, the mentors package page lists a few lintian messages, which should
be fixed as well, like those:

 W package-uses-deprecated-debhelper-compat-version
 I out-of-date-standards-version
 I public-upstream-key-not-minimal
 P insecure-copyright-format-uri
 P silent-on-rules-requiring-root
 X upstream-metadata-file-is-missing

The description of the lintian tags should give you some hints, otherwise please
feel free to ask here.

I've tagged this RFS bug as "moreinfo". That indicates that you need to update
your package and indicate what way (wait or experimental) you want to pursuit.
Just remove the tag when ready for a second round of review.
