The maintainer also wanted to disable the warning instead of looking at the cause. For extsmail, though, I've tried building with -Wformat enabled -- all warnings are: warning: ISO C does not support the '%m' gnu_printf format [-Wformat=] which is a pointless but harmless shorthand for '%s', strerror(errno). I'd recommend having upstream patch this out for portability, but for now, your patch sounds acceptable. Uploaded to DELAYED/7.
