You should have answered to the ITP, alone for transparency reasons and for avoiding that you syrup on each other's toes. (And also for the rest of Debian which is not part/aware of the Java procedures (I'm currently offline while writing this, so I could not check what it says. But I would be surprised if it says that normal Debian procedures can be ignored.)

Okay it's a new package... But still it seems to be the wrong order to upload first and then all later...
