Hi Jon,

I should be more clear in my conclusion: As said, the package is in use
by many people, so it is in my opinion worth to be kept in Debian.

Regarding the packaging, it really depends what your goals are. If you
want to become the maintainer of the package (and you indicated that by
putting your name into the maintainer field) you will eventually find a
sponsor. It might take some time, though, and you need to show some
persistence. But you can invest this time to improve the package's
quality as much as possible (and this again will increase the changes of
being sponsored sooner). As already it is more likely to find a sponsor
if the package is in good shape and sponsors also likes to see that you
care.
