[Nbd] 2.9.0 upcoming

Hi,

Writing the code bits that were required for 2.9.0 has been finished
now, and I'm planning on releasing 2.9.0 tomorrow-ish (it still needs
some testing for the final bits, which is not something I want to do at
4AM). The code is in SVN trunk already; so if you're interested, that's
the place to look.

If there are any pet features that people would want to have in 2.9.0
and that aren't there yet, now would be a good time to let me know.
