process for LSB-FHS test suite development
hi All
Just a note to let you about the proposed process for the development
of the LSB-FHS Test suite.
An initial set of assertions (a set of statements which evaluate
true/false based on the specifications under test) is complete and available.
These assertions are based on the LSB and FHS specifications.
These are undergoing a one month review - this is to check the correctness
of the assertions with respect to the two specifications. There will be
further reviews when the alpha and beta test code is available. The
purpose of which is to check the correctness of the test code.
I expect these reviews also to open up many specification issues,
and if specification changes occur later we will have to track this
in the test assertions and test suite.
I am currently collating the sets of comments (4 sets of comments
received to date). I am looking for volunteers to review the comments
and propose resolutions . Reviewers should review comments
in the light of the specifications that are being tested and I would
suggest the following pro-forma responses:
Accepted as stated in action.
Accepted with the following changes to the suggested action....
Rejected: The LBS requires that this feature be present ....
Rejected: The FHS requires that this feature is present ....
(for example /var/mail is /var/mail).
Rejected: the problem statement is not specific
I expect to circulate the full set of comments with the proposed
resolutions during the week commencing Jan 11. I expect to have
the alpha version of the test suite available during the week
commencing Jan 18.
regards
Andrew
