So far, I haven't seen a compelling need to move from inetd to xinetd,
and I don't like the way it breaks compatibility either (and I don't
quite buy the argument that it's more secure). If there's a serious push
in the xinetd direction, we would probably follow, though.

Or rather inetd-{install,remove}. If install is made idempotent it
would also cover the update case conveniently.  Note that plain BSD
inetd based platforms also need some kind of post-install mucking around
because they at least have to send inetd a SIGHUP.
