Have you tried removing all of the patches from where you build and then 
copying over fresh ones from cvs?  Perhaps you have an out of date patch for 
gcc/glibc.  Since it is failing in phase2 and not in the bootstrap it has to 
be a problem within the si and its sources not the host system.
