Re: [gopher] Ad at 33C3

Hi all.

Glad to hear about the 33c3, after so many... decades. Really.

Yes, I agree with "darknet" in the mean term of "darknet" ( as featured in Wikipedia as a distinct fashion). to qualify the gopher protocol.

It is no clear to me if 33c3has this mean in mind. Because of there is a misuse, however, of the term and its implies, specially within the so called "yellow press".

That aspect in our digital era, leave us to take in consideration an urgent need to be very clear on the means and ends, whenever there is a community;  just to avoid misconceptions by the illiterate mass.

Let's make an unwritten proposal to focus on the real uses of the gopher protocol, to avoid these scenarios.  And explain, besides being in the 33c3 may be kinda fun, that far away of being confused , identified, with a P2P protocol or a Tor based service, gopher matters;  and why gopher is important and still relevant.

Just mumbling.

Uhm, memoirs of the flavour of Fisch Frikadellen mit Kartoffel Salat. Yum!

Cheers

Christoph has produced an advertisement for the Gopher project. This advertisement references the "darknet", which refers generally to any portion of the Internet which is not generally accessible to the public--colloquially, anything that is not searchable from Google. Gopher could be considered a "darknet" protocol as most of the general public doesn't know about it. Presumably, Christoph calls it the "true" darknet because most darknet protocols are at least peripherally known to the public through news stories, whereas Gopher isn't really known at all. This advertisement is to be shown at Chaos Communication Congress (C3), a conference about computery stuff. A lot of different things go on there, but in particular one of the things discussed at C3 is various darknet services.

Greetings fellow comrades.

To  spread the word of gopher I have added a gopher advertisement to the

Watch the streams for gophers! :D
