Doh, my brain was really on auto-pilot. I mixed up 'R' and 'r' commands in UMN Gopher. It even registered that, "My, isn't it strange that JumpJet's root directory is on a different server," but my deductive powers took me no further, much to my embarrassment.
Sorry for the false alarm. Long live JumpJet! Long live Gopherspace!
