Bug#852351: apt: broken hash records for icons crippling apt from updating

I've seen that report and the lack of respect the developer had to the the submitters.

I've tracked this issue since it happened and Ubuntu has a similar issue. The sed/awk solution that fixed their users issues instead of the list purge that does not work is not what I would consider a solution.

I'm not behind any proxy and yet these hash miss matches which have never surfaced in 16 years of my own Debian use is now emerging, right after an OpenSSL update and Apt update.

If you can merge the bug great, never done that personally,

Sincerely,

Marc J. Driftmeyer

Dear Maintainer,

The most recent two beta updates of Apt in Sid broke its capacity to manage secure hash files resulting in mishmatching records:
That does not seem very likely, there were no changes to that
part of the code. You might want to take a look at Bug #838441
that probably matches your issue. If so, please merge.

Thanks.
