Thanks for that, but sorry, no. This is a regression introduced in 
commit 
  8f858d560e3b7b475c623c4e242d1edce246025a 
and *not* a feature. And that regression should be fixed.

Luckily for everyone, this has not been part of any distribution's
stable release yet (it started with 1.3~exp2), and there's still a
few days to fix this for the upcoming Ubuntu release in 1.3.1.

That said, we can surely extend the documentation on how to debug
issues for 1.4, but that's unfortunately not possible for 1.3, as
it breaks translations...
