I see that, too, with aptitude. I initially thought it only happens
inside screen, but I was just able to reproduce it in the sid chroot
of asdfasdf with "apt-get install htop" with APT 1.0.6.
IIRC it was already present in a few more recent versions of APT, at
least for some months.
