Bug#754904: "apt-get install /dev/null" segfaults

Package: apt
Version: 1.1~exp2
Severity: minor

# apt-get install -qq /dev/null
Segmentation fault

It would be nice if apt could print a helpful error message instead of segfaulting. For example, this is what dpkg says:

# dpkg -i /dev/null
dpkg-deb: error: `/dev/null' is not a debian format archive
dpkg: error processing archive /dev/null (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
/dev/null
