It would be nice to have a Pre-Invoke and Post-Invoke hook for apt-get upgrade
just like the ones for apt-get update (APT::Update::Pre|Post-Invoke).

Indeed, that would be really useful.

Good that someone has already implemented it:
dpkg::{Pre,Post}-Invoke
used in exactly the same way as the apt::update hooks.

Okay, these are called for install/remove/upgrade/dist-upgrade/… and such,
but if it should really only be executed in a subset of these actions it
should be easy to get the needed information from the running processes.

So i am closing this bug as already implemented, but feel free to
reopen it in case i misunderstood your request!

Best regards
