Package: apt

Severity: important

This is merely a mystery to resolve for me, and I'm sure someone can tell
me the source for how the policy weight on squeeze stable has become 990.

However, I never set this weight nor played with any pinning,
so I would regard the assignment of a non-default weight as a potential bug.
Maybe if you can help me find where it is being set, we can
determine the source of this happening.

I did strace on 'apt-cache policy' and still could not spot the file
where the weight of 990 is being assigned to squeeze stable.

The impact to me is squeeze-updates are not coming down the pipe
unless I do something like comment out the squeeze stable line
in sources.list.

Hi Donald Teed,

This setting is the cause for the 990 pinning.
I don't know who has set this - are you sure you didn't?
The setting is included either in /etc/apt/apt.conf or /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/

It is at least not set by the apt package so the bug is wrong here
as it is not a bug but a correctly implemented feature.
So i am closing it here, but feel free to reopen and
reassign it to the real offender if you find him.

Best regards

David Kalnischkies
