Package: apt
Version: 0.6.44.2
Severity: important

I'm using Debian/unstable. Running a normal 'apt-get upgrade' today,
apt-get failed. Now I get:

$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
 python-central: Depends: python (>= 2.3.5-9) but 2.3.5-5 is installed
 python-dev: Depends: python (= 2.3.5-10) but 2.3.5-5 is installed
 python2.4-dev: Depends: python2.4 (= 2.4.3-7) but 2.4.3-5 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

But that gives:

$ sudo apt-get install -f
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Correcting dependencies...Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
 python python2.4 python2.4-minimal
Suggested packages:
 python-profiler python2.4-doc

Trying to remove python2.4 gives:

I don't know how to fix this :-( Thanks,

Version: 0.6.46.3

In APT changelog for version 0.6.46.3 is included:
[...]
* apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.cc:
    - make progress reporting robust against multiline error
      messages
[...]

So APT shouldn't crash any longer (for a long while now)
then encounter multiply lines. Also, the cloned bug against
dpkg was fixed in the meantime.

I therefore think the bug is fixed and close the report now,
but feel free to reopen it if you disagree!

Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

David "DonKult" Kalnischkies
