I collected apt-0.7.21 from http://bzr.debian.org/apt/debian-sid/ and built the package with "nostrip noopts" and installed (dpkg -i apt_0.7.21_i386.deb). But now I have unmet dependencies apt-utils: Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6-4.8 aptitude: Depends: libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6-4.8 which stops me running aptitude or apt-get. It will take me a while to work out how to get those things installed, I suspect... ael
