yep, here's another case:

% wget http://ftp.it.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/seetex/dviutils_2.19-12_i386.deb

this pkg has same size as the apg-get'd pkg, which apt puts into /partial:

# ls -l dviutils_2.19-12_i386.deb partial/dviutils_2.19-12_i386.deb 
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22060 2004-01-21 12:17 dviutils_2.19-12_i386.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22060 2004-01-21 12:17 partial/dviutils_2.19-12_i386.deb

same MD5SUM 646ba7f400c3cce64a88e3f9b1e70321, which agrees with Packages.

Yet apt refused to install claiming there's a 'size mismatch'.

Of course, that was after proper apt-get update - to wit:

# grep 646ba7f400c3cce64a88e3f9b1e70321 /var/lib/apt/lists/*
/var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.it.debian.org_debian_dists_etch_main_binary-i386_Packages:MD5sum: 646ba7f400c3cce64a88e3f9b1e70321

I did a manual 'dpkg -i' install.
