After removing the entry concerning dar from the preferences file
apt-cache policy becomes:
======================================================================
dar:
  Installed: 2.3.4-1
  Candidate: 2.3.5-1
  Version table:
     2.3.5-1 0
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org lenny/main Packages
 *** 2.3.4-1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
======================================================================

Thanks,
Jö.
