Version: 0.5.4

Hello,

I've recently found a bug in apt tool. Apt hangs while reading
sources.lst file containing lines with long comments (more > 300=20
chars), like:

#longlonglonglonglonglong .... long (300 chars)

Apt-get hungs, strace apt-get update gives:
=2E..
open("/etc/apt/sources.list", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) =3D 4
fstat64(4, {st_mode=3DS_IFREG|0644, st_size=3D1459, ...}) =3D 0
old_mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS,
-1, 0) =3D 0x40014000
read(4, "#longlonglonglonlonglonglonglonl"..., 4096) =3D 1459

 Debian 3.0/Woody, recent updates.=3D20

Home-made kernel form vanilla sources (plus patch-o-matic-ng).

This is a duplicate of bug #146846, fixed in apt 0.5.5.
