fetchmail needs manual intervention to keep it dist-upgradeable?

Just curious, why is fetchmail only updatable by hand: 
#  apt-get install fetchmail -s
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  fetchmail-common fetchmail-ssl 
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  fetchmail 

# apt-get dist-upgrade -s|grep fetchm
# apt-get upgrade -s|grep fetchm
showing nothing!

$ apt-cache policy fetchmail 
fetchmail:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 6.2.1-1

i see. it's due to a special consolidation of that package. OK, but
does it now need manual intervention to keep it fresh?
