Bug#182368: apt: user often sees spurious "not empty so not removed" on --purge
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/apt-get
Please consider the user's impression upon purging many packages,
e.g.,
# apt-get --purge remove dhcp-client
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
dhcp-client*
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 216 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 348kB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
(Reading database ... 214035 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing dhcp-client ...
dpkg - warning: while removing dhcp-client, directory `/var/lib/dhcp'
not empty so not removed.
Purging configuration files for dhcp-client ...
# ls -l /var/lib/dhcp
ls: /var/lib/dhcp: No such file or directory
I.e., please figure out a way to show that maybe indeed that dir got
removed later when running postrm, etc.
