Mentioning defaults in the man page?

Hi there,

apparently, I exceeded the default Cache-Limit which resulted in the
following error:

	Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
	E: Error occured while
	processing libcgi-fast-perl (NewVersion1)
	E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Ofcourse a simple search turned up the answer but I think it might be
helpful if
 a. apt-get provided a more clear error message (e.g. "ran out of cache
     space").
 b. The man page would list the default value for Cache-Limit.
According to [1], it is 6 MB but I can't find it in the apt-get
     manpage.
Just a minor issue but might be helpful nevertheless.
