Bug#177680: output of 'apt-cache policy'
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Followup-For: Bug #177680
Dear Jason:
Here's an example for mozilla-browser.
apt-cache policy mozilla-browser:
mozilla-browser:
Installed: 2:1.2.1-9
Candidate: 2:1.2.1-9
Version Table:
*** 2:1.2.1-9 0
500 http://ftp2.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
2:1.0.0-0.woody.1 0
500 http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Packages
500 http://ftp2.de.debian.org stable/main Packages
989 http://ftp2.de.debian.org testing/main Packages
cat /etc/apt/preferences:
Package: *
Pin: release a=testing
Priority: 1001
cat /etc/apt/apt.conf:
Apt::Get::Purge;
APT::Cache-Limit 12582912;
Yes I do realize that systemwide downgrade is not officially supported
(heard that on IRC), nevertheless it has worked for me in the past
quite well and I am concerned why the policy is not getting set
correctly here. This is really an independent issue from how well a
systemwide downgrade is managed.
