therefore, one check does not update the package cache, so reword the
manpage.

Surprisingly, the package cache is the directory with 'cache' in the name.
The lists directory is something else.

The terms used in the man pages and source code are entirely self
consistant, you're just not reading carefully enough. Please think more
carefully before filing bugs.
