Bug#175938: apt: Need to get 499MB, 54.9MB will be used.
Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/apt-get
apt-get says:
"Need to get 499MB of archives. After unpacking 54.9MB will be used."
huh, is it 90% chaff?
Oh, I see... 54.9MB _more_ than we are currently using for the older
versions of the same packages... OK, I would add the word "more" to
that message... or something.
In file:///usr/share/doc/apt/guide.html/ch4.html :
The next number indicates the size difference between the presently
installed packages and the newly installed packages. It is roughly
equivalent to the space required in /usr after everything is done. If
a large number of packages are being removed then the value may
indicate the amount of space that will be freed.
uh oh... "may" ... then I hope it has a negative sign attached...
