libapt-pkg API reference

Hello,

Is there an API reference for writing programs with libapt-pkg?  I had
a look at the libapt-pkg-doc package, but this doesn't seem to include
one.  I'm looking at rewriting sbuild in C++, and it would be great if
I could do something like:

* Install packages x and y, and remove package z if it's installed, and
* Get a list of package changes
[do stuff]
* Restore the system to its previous state using the list of changes.

Currently sbuild seems to do all the calculation of the dependency
tree, but it would be nice if libapt could do this for me.
