Re: Bug#131573: apt: Segfault on any operation

It worked. Is it a file corruption problem, then?

Yes, what did you do before hand? Are you using any weird kernels+fs's?

Jason

The last _successful_ operation was an upgrade trial.

I use dselect, so I chose Update, which worked. Then Select, I think I modified some selections, resolved some dependency issues, and asked it to uninstall some gnome packages. Nothing unusual.

Then asked to Install. It started OK. Hit Enter to confirm action, then SOME PACKAGES WERE NOT PRESENT ON THE SERVER (unfinished mirror operation?). The server which caused trouble was ftp://ftp.fr.debian.org, just in case that could matter.

I can't remember having done anything successful (No segfault) between that operation and the suggested rm /var/cache/apt/*.bin

I tried apt-get update, apt-get remove, apt-get install, apt-get upgrade, and apt-get dselect-upgrade by hand. None worked.

However, apt-get check DID NOT SEGFAULT, and did not report any problem. Is this useful?

I sincerely hope that helps, because I doubt I can provide much more information. If you need details on something, I will be happy to provide them if I remember them. No logged output. Sorry.

BTW. No core file, so I cannot try to gdb it.

Yours,

Antonio
