dpkg --status-pipe

I just checked in support for the above option into dpkg's HEAD branch. The
output on this pipe is of the following form:

==
(Reading database ... 38186 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace kaiman 4:2.1-20010101-2 (using .../kaiman_4%3a2.1-20010101-2_i386.deb) ...
status: kaiman: half-configured
status: kaiman: unpacked
status: kaiman: half-installed
Unpacking replacement kaiman ...

status: kaiman: unpacked
Setting up kaiman (2.1-20010101-2) ...

status: kaiman: installed
==

If so desired, I can also output which maintainer script is run, and with what
options.
