Much better:

Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following packages have been kept back
  apt apt-utils dpkg gnucash gsnes9x heimdal-clients heimdal-clients-x
  heimdal-dev heimdal-lib heimdal-servers heimdal-servers-x libpam-heimdal
  sawfish sawfish-gnome
47 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 14 not upgraded.
Need to get 27.7MB of archives. After unpacking 33.1MB will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

Thanks!

hmmm... not sure what could have caused it though... Perhaps when I
was running apt without enough RAM and had the swap file disabled (at
least that is the only thing that comes to mind). I think I had a bit
of fun then with processes dying unexpectedly.
