Unless you have a way to use a ioctl to determine the terminal
capabilities, I don't think this can be seriously considered a bug. \n and
\r have nice well defined meanings on unix systems. In your case you
should use -q to tell apt to not show this kind of information, any maybe
look in to a better terminal :>
