Bug#77999: man sources.list bad example
Package: apt
Version: 0.3.19
Severity: Wishlist
man sources.list states
1: The format for an entry is "deb uri distribution [component1]
[componenent2] [...]"
2: "distribution can specify an exact path, in which case the
components must be omitted and distribution must end with a slash (/)"
3: an example as "deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian
dists/stable-updates"
I assume that this example (point 3) is intended to to fit the case
where an exact path has been specified as there are no omponents, so
unless point 2 is incorrect and distribution doesnt have to end with a
"/" the example should be.
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian dists/stable-updates/
if not man shouldnt state that distribution has to end in a "/"
In any case wouldnt this example resolve to
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/dists/stable-updates, ie two
entries for "dists" which makes it a very unrealistic example, or does
"dists" not get added between uri and distribution if no components are
specified.
Wouldnt a better example be
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable-updates/
Im confused.. i think
