I burnt a few hours ago the first two bog-standard CDs from unmodified
debian-cd, excluding non-free & non-US. They were not authenticated with
rsync.

I installed from scratch and chose the simple option, task-*, all of them.
All the packages were found on the first CD. This installation method
uses apt. In other words this was a crass newbie install. inn2 failed to
configure meaning that there were three unconfigured packages, the other
two were meta-packages. Total disc space used was 870 MB.

dselect was then run and the extra packages installed meant that 940 MB
was now used. One swap was needed for about six packages.

This swapping problem is easy to solve. The offending packages can be
added to ../debian-cd/tasks/Debian_potato before popularity-contest and
they will then be added to the first CD.

I did notice that ispell British (and I suppose I should also mention
ispell American) are not included in any of the tasks, although Polish etc
were. I have previously mentioned that lp, gs, magicfilter & libpaperg
are not included either. We need to ensure that the crass newbie gets
everything needed.

I am prepared to identify the packages that should be included on the
first CD and are not, I could have this done in about 24 hours.

Additional comments.

I tried to install Bo to test upgrading, but Bo did not recognise hda
where my testing partition lives.

task-parallel-computing* does not find their way onto any of the three CDs
and the packages exist and are included in Packages. Why?

How does one get the local partition working with debian-cd?

Phil.
